MyProgress: Guide to getting started with the mobile app

This article will explain how to download, install and access the MyProgress app on your mobile device. The MyProgress app allows you to record and evidence work-based assessments whilst on clinical placement.

Installing the MyProgress app

The MyProgress app is available on both iOS and Android. Click the links below to access the Apple and Google app store.

Please ensure you install the ‘MyProgress Health’ app.

Logging InMyProgress service code

When you first access the app you will be prompted to enter a service code which is ‘hyms(please note this needs to be lowercase). Now click the Sign In button to be taken to the login page.

You will  see a prompt that states the app would like to use ‘b2clogin.com’ to sign in, click Continue.

From the login page, select the Login with your University Account button. Now enter your HYMS email address and password and complete the multi-factor authentication process.

Configuring the app settings

It is important to review your app settings when you first sign-in, to control how the app will work for you.

You can access the app settings by tapping the cog icon in the menu at the bottom of the app.  In the personal setting section:

  • select ‘Remember me’ if you want to be able to work offline where there is no data connection (you won’t be able to sign in without a data connection). We recommend you enable this setting – during clinical placements you may not have internet access or a data connection.
  • select ‘Only sync over Wi-Fi’ if you don’t want to use your personal mobile data. If you do select this option, please make sure that you connect your device to the internet regularly to ensure completed assessments are synced with the online system.

App homepage

When you first login to the app you will be taken to the homepage. Here you will see the forms you are required to complete as part of your programme. These forms are broken down into two sections:

Portfolio forms

You will use MyProgress to record and reflect on your learning experiences by completing a number of portfolio activities. It’s important to keep up-to-date with these activities as you will be required to use them as evidence for assessments in future modules. A breakdown of the portfolio requirements can be found below:

  • Weekly Reflective Learning Journal – This is the HYMS PA – Weekly Reflective Learning Journal form. You should complete at least one entry each week.
  • Case Based Discussion Form– This is the HYMS PA – Case Based Discussion – Patient Clerking Form. You will be expected to complete one of these forms every week alternating between primary and secondary care.
  • Case Based Discussion Feedback Form – This form is for supervisor feedback on a Case Based Discussion. You should ask your supervisor to complete this form every week alternating between primary and secondary care.
  • Supervisor Appraisal Form – This form is for end of term feedback. You must have one completed form from each of your Clinical Placement educational supervisors (primary and secondary care), PBL tutor, Clinical Skills tutor and Academic supervisor.
  • Supervisor Feedback Form – This form is for feedback from your supervisor following each clinical placement. It can also be used for feedback after PBL, clinical skills or procedural skills sessions.
  • Mini CEX (starting Year 1, Term 2) – This is the HYMS PA Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise (mini CEX) form. A mini-CEX is a structured assessment of an observed clinical encounter in the workplace. You are expected to complete four forms per term, two in primary care and two in secondary care.

Please contact your Educational Supervisor if you have any questions about the portfolio forms.

Clinical Procedural Skills

You will use MyProgress to record the procedural skills assessment you have undertaken. For further information in regards to the procedural skills you’re required to complete, please read the Year 1 procedural skills handbook which is available on Blackboard in the HYMS PA: Year 1 Procedural Skills course.
