Guide Overview

MyProgress logoThis guide will explain how to install, set up and sync forms on the MyProgress mobile app.  The app allows you to record and evidence work-based assessments whilst on clinical placement. It is available on both Apple and Android devices.

The MB BS MyProgress portfolio requires certain portfolio forms to be submitted via the MyProgress online portfolio platform and certain forms to be submitted via the MyProgress app (app forms will then sync with the online platform).

Please consult the relevant MB BS MyProgress student portfolio guides for detailed guidance about which forms are to be submitted via the online platform or the app.

Install and log in to the mobile app

The MyProgress app is available on both Apple and Android. Click on the links to access the Apple and Google app store and download the app.

  1. MyProgress log in appOpen the app and enter the service code ‘hyms’ (lowercase).
  2. Click on the Sign In button to be taken to the log in page.
  3. You will see a prompt that states the app would like to use ‘b2clogin.com’ to sign in, click on Continue.
  4. From the log in page, select the login with your University Account button.
  5. Enter your Hull York Medical School email address (hy****@hyms.ac.uk) and password. You will need to further authenticate via Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Please access the following link to our MFA help pages for further guidance if required; MFA help pages.
  6. Upon successful log in, the app will display your MB BS portfolio homepage.MyProgress app homepage
  7. Click on a section of the homepage to access and complete forms. Please consult the relevant MB BS MyProgress student portfolio guides for detailed guidance about which forms are to be submitted via the online platform or the app.MyProgress-placement-allocation-tab
  8. From the settings cog in the bottom right-hand corner of the app homepage you can sign out of the app.

Configure your app settings, work offline and sync forms
  1. It is important to review your app settings when you first sign in, to control how the mobile app will work for you. You can access the app settings by tapping on the settings cog icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the app homepage.

  1. Select remember me to ensure you can still sign in and work offline without internet access / a data connection.

    We recommend you enable this setting, as during clinical placements you may not have internet access / a data connection.

  2. Select only sync over Wi-Fi if you don’t want to use your personal mobile data. If you do select this option, please make sure that you connect your device to the internet regularly to ensure completed assessments are synced with the online system.

  3. The app is designed to work offline once you have signed in and your assessment forms have synchronised with it. When a form is submitted, the app will check to see if a connection is available. If it is available, the form will sync to the online system automatically.
  4. If no data connection is available, or if you have selected only to sync via Wi-Fi and there is no Wi-Fi available, the form will be saved as ready to sync.

  6. The app will continue to check in the background for a connection, and when your device is online again (or Wi-Fi is available) it will automatically sync forms with the online platform.
  7. You can also manually sync forms (with an internet connection). Select the ready to sync option. Select the circular arrow icon in the top right-hand corner of the list of pending forms. If the manual sync is successful the forms will disappear from the pending list on the app and appear on the online portfolio.

Ensure you sync the app regularly

It is your responsibility to ensure that forms are synced to the online portfolio platform. It is very important to sync your device regularly to ensure you have all of the forms assigned to you and also to send any completed forms back to the online platform. If you don’t sync regularly, completed assessment forms could be lost in the event of the app crashing. Please also note that completed, synced app forms can only be accessed via the online platform.
