This guide provides a brief overview of the MB BS Phase I MyProgress Clinical Placement Review form and outlines the workflow for completing the form.
Clinical Placement Review form overview
The Clinical Placement Review form enables students to receive feedback on their performance during Clinical Practice.
At the end of a primary or secondary care session, students will provide a short summary of the learning content covered, along with a brief review on their own engagement and performance. The tutor will then provide brief feedback and a grade based on the student’s engagement and performance.
The form can be completed at any point during the block, at the end of a session, and is therefore intended to be a brief review by the student with concise comments from the tutor.
To avoid this being too onerous for the primary and secondary care placement tutors, the form has been limited to one form per block for primary care and one form per block for secondary care.
To ensure all students receive timely feedback, the form is structured so that both the student and tutor can complete it immediately at the end of a session. The form is intended to allow for a few lines of written content from the student and tutor.
It is also important to note that this form has been renamed a review form to clarify that the aim is for the student and tutor to review performance and engagement in the moment, as opposed to a reflection form requiring more time, consideration and wording (such as certain Phase 2 forms).
Form workflow
Students will log in to the MyProgress app on their device and will complete the first section of the form. They will then hand their device to you, the clinical tutor. You can then enter brief feedback and grading, and provide your name, NHS email address and signature. The form can then be submitted.
You will receive an email notification about the completed form. This is for your information only and does not require any further action.
- The student will log in to the MyProgress app on their device and select the Clinical Placement Review form tab from the app homepage.
- A new form will open.
- In the text box the student will provide a short summary of the learning content covered, along with a brief review of their own engagement and performance.
- They will then select the Clinical Placement setting (either Primary or Secondary Care) from the drop-down list.
- The student will then select the appropriate Assessor role (Primary Care Tutor, Secondary Care Tutor, Educational Supervisor) from the drop-down options.
- They will then hand their device to you, the Clinical tutor. You can then provide feedback on how the student can improve and areas where they performed well. You can then also select a grade. You will then need to sign the form and provide your name and NHS email address.
- Click on submit to complete the form.
- Confirm submission again.
- You will be redirected back to the app homepage. A brief green success message will appear to confirm submission.
- The Clinical Placement Review form tab on the app will update to reflect the latest tally of completed forms.
- You will receive an email confirmation that you completed the form with the student. The email will contain a link to an online version of the form. This is for your information only and does not require any further action. Reviewing the submitted form online does not require you to log in to the online MyProgress platform and the form cannot be edited further.
- The student will see the completed form visible to them via completed responses under the Clinical Placement Review form tab, via the student online portfolio system.
