How to access OpenCampus

Guide Overview

This article will explain how to log in to the OpenCampus platform. This guide also provides essential guidance to check prior to attempting to log in to the platform.

Essential guidance prior to attempting to log in to OpenCampus

To ensure successful log in, please check the below guidance before attempting to access OpenCampus.

Ensure you are in private browser mode

OpenCampus is accessed via HYMS Microsoft 365 email account details.

If you also have access to Microsoft 365 email via other log in details (such as via NHS details) the system may incorrectly try and automatically log you in via those details. To avoid this scenario, please follow the guidance on this page whilst in private browser mode.

  • In most browsers you need to navigate to the top-right corner of the browser, click on the three vertical dots and select New Incognito Window or New InPrivate Window or New Private Window.
  • In Safari click on File menu, then click on New Private Window.
  • Alternatively you can use the keyboard shortcut combination Ctrl-Shift-N (Windows) or Command-Shift-N (MacOS).

Please click on the following link for further guidance on private browser mode if required; logging into Microsoft 365 using private / incognito mode.

Ensure you have set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your Hull York Medical School Microsoft 365 account

Access to the OpenCampus platform is provided via your Hull York Medical School Microsoft 365 account. Please be aware that Hull York Medical School will be switching on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all HYMS Microsoft 365 account users throughout the 2021/22 academic year.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) provides an additional layer of security on top of your HYMS username and password when you access University resources online.

To successfully log in to OpenCampus you will firstly need to ensure you have set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your Hull York Medical School Microsoft 365 account. Please access the following link to our MFA help pages for further guidance if required; MFA help pages.

Staff access: ensure you have been granted access to OpenCampus and have the associated access to any student content.

Please ensure you have been granted access to OpenCampus and have the associated access to any student content by the relevant administrator.

Educational supervisors and tutors can check they have been given access by contacting the relevant HYMS Student Liaison Office and the Hull York Medical School Programme Delivery team (phase1@hyms.ac.uk for Year 1 and 2, phase2@hyms.ac.uk for Year 3 and 4,  phase3@hyms.ac.uk for Year 5).

Ensure you are not using the browser Internet Explorer

Please avoid using Internet Explorer when accessing University resources as you may encounter access issues / loss of functionality.
