Guide overview
You can use Microsoft Teams from a web browser, the desktop app (Windows/macOS), or the mobile app (iOS/Android). This page walks you through each option, sign‑in details, browser support, and quick troubleshooting.
Quick start
- Web: Go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/ and sign in with your HYMS username and password → open Teams.
- Desktop: Download the app from Microsoft Teams Download and sign in with your HYMS account. (On Hull and York Managed Laptops the Teams app is available from the Software center).
- Mobile: Install Microsoft Teams from the App Store or Google Play, then sign in with your HYMS credentials.
- Username: Enter your HYMS Username in the format: hyab123@hyms.ac.uk
Before you start
- Browser support (web app): Teams for the web works on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari (latest supported versions). Internet Explorer 11 is not supported. Teams for web isn’t supported on mobile browsers—use the mobile app instead.
- Best experience: For the smoothest experience, use the latest versions of Edge or Chrome on desktop.
Option 1 – Use Teams in a web browser
- Open https://m365.cloud.microsoft/
- Sign in with your HYMS username (
hyab123@hyms.ac.uk) and password. - Select the Teams app from the app launcher.
- If Teams doesn’t load or you see limited functionality, switch to Edge or Chrome and make sure the browser is up to date.
- If your camera/microphone isn’t detected, allow permissions for camera and microphone in your browser settings, then refresh the page. [support.mi…rosoft.com]
Option 2 – Use the Teams desktop app (Windows/macOS)
You may be able to use Teams via the computer desktop app.
- Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/log-in an download the desktop app.
- Install the app and sign in with your HYMS credentials.
- (If prompted) Approve any security or privacy prompts from your OS.

We cannot guarantee that all device models / versions will be able to successfully install / use the Teams app. Please search online for detailed guidance for your particular device model.
Option 3 – Use the Teams mobile app (iOS/Android
- Install Microsoft Teams from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Sign in with your HYMS username and password.
- To sign out: Menu → Settings → Sign out
The mobile app supports core features such as chat, meetings, file sharing and switching between Teams and channels, offering near‑parity with the desktop experience for most day‑to‑day tasks.
