Echo360: Mobile apps

This article provides an overview of how to install and use the Echo360 mobile application.

Echo360 has developed a mobile application that allows you to view videos (recorded lectures) from your smartphone or tablet.  The Echo360 Mobile App is available for the following platforms:

  • The Android app is supported on Android 5 and higher.
  • The iOS app is supported on iOS 9.1 or later.
  • The Windows Mobile app is supported on Windows 10 PC and Windows 10 Mobile devices, as well as on XBox One.
  • The Echo360 app is now also available for the Amazon Kindle and is available on the Amazon App store:

While the interfaces between the apps differs slightly, the basic navigation and core functionality is the same across platforms. The Windows mobile app currently provides only core functionality.

Logging into the mobile app

  1. Open the Echo360 mobile app.
  2. Enter your HYMS email address and click Submit.
  3. Now enter your Username and Password.

  1. Click sign in.

Viewing a lecture in the mobile app

The Echo360 mobile app allows you stream lectures to directly to your mobile device.

We strongly recommend you only view lectures on your mobile device when you have an internet connection. This will prevent you from using large amounts of data on your mobile device. Alternatively, you can use the app in offline mode. Further details can be found below in this article.

To watch a video, follow these simple steps:

  1. Select the course in which the video is located.
  2. Find the video you wish to view and click the green Echo360 icon. This will stream the video directly to your mobile device.

Using offline mode of the mobile app

Mobile apps are designed to be used “on the go” but internet connectivity isn’t always guaranteed. The Echo360 mobile app allows you to download videos (when you have an internet connection) and view them later without the need for a connection.

To download a lecture to view offline follow these simple steps:

  1. Select the course in which the video is located.
  2. Find the video you wish to view offline and click on the menu icon (three dots).

  1. For each recording you should see two available downloads. You need to download the video from the site where the tutor was presenting.
  2. Once downloaded, the class is shown with an Available Offline icon and text to indicate the video is available on the device and can be viewed without internet connectivity.

  1. Repeat the download steps for all classes you want to have available for offline viewing.

Viewing videos in offline mode

To put the app in offline mode, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the Main Menu of the app (menu icon located in the top left corner).
  2. At the bottom of the menu, select Go Offline.
  3. Now select the video you wish to view.

Please be aware that only classes you have downloaded are available for offline viewing.
