Echo360 mobile app

Guide overview

Echo360 have developed a mobile app that allows you to view recorded lectures / narrated presentations from your smartphone or tablet. This guide will explain how to:

  • install and log in to the Echo360 app
  • view content online *recommended
  • view content offline

Please be aware that these are example guidance steps only. These steps may vary depending on your device. We cannot guarantee that your device will be compatible with these steps or the app.  Please search online for more specific guidance for your device model if required.

Please access the following links to download and install the Echo360 app:

While the interfaces between the apps differ slightly, the basic navigation and core functionality is the same across platforms.

Log in
  1. Open the Echo360 mobile app.
  2. Enter your Hull York Medical School email address (in the format hyxxxx@hyms.ac.uk) and click on submit.Echo360 app log in
  3. Now enter your HYMS username (in the format hyxxxx) and password and click on sign in.Echo360 log in on app

Content online

The Echo360 mobile app allows you to stream recorded lectures / narrated presentations directly to your mobile device.

View content with a wireless internet connection (but not mobile data connection)

We strongly recommend you only view recordings on your mobile device when you have a wireless internet connection (when in online mode). This will prevent you from using large amounts of data on your device.

  1. From the main menu, select the relevant term (Undergrad in the screenshot).Echo360 app menu

    You will need to view a list of recordings from the online platform / via Blackboard to then see the list appear on the app.

  3. Click on the green play icon for the relevant recording. This will stream the recording directly to your mobile device.Echo360app play icon
  4. You can pause, rewind and fast-forward content from the recording tool bar, as well as alter the speed and quality from the settings cog.Echo360 app recording tool bar

View content offline

Content offline

Mobile apps are designed to be used “on the go” but internet connectivity isn’t always guaranteed. The Echo360 mobile app allows you to download recordings (when you have an internet connection) and view them later without the need for a connection.

View content with a wireless internet connection (but not mobile data connection)

As stated above, we strongly recommend you ideally only view recordings on your mobile device when you have a wireless internet connection (when in online mode). This will prevent you from using large amounts of data on your device.

Only recordings you have downloaded are available for offline viewing.

Download a recording to view offline
  1. Select the relevant recording list.
  2. Echo360 app download menuFind the recording you wish to view offline and click on the menu icon (three dots). Select to download content.Echo360 download option
  3. Once downloaded, the recoding is shown with an available offline icon and text.Echo360 app recording available offline
  4. Echo360 go offline menu optionRepeat the download steps for all recordings you want to have available for offline viewing.
  5. Open the main menu of the app (menu icon located in the top left corner).
  6. At the bottom of the menu, select go offline.
  7. Select the downloaded recording you wish to view.
