This article will explain how to copy content/learning materials from one Blackboard course to another.
Due to the structural differences between a Blackboard Original course and a Blackboard Ultra course, it is not possible to automatically copy across all the content from the previous academic year.
You can copy resources (such as files and web links) on an individual basis but you should not copy the entire contents of a course. This will produce compatibility errors and significant time will be required to resolve these issues.
We strongly recommend that you are selective with content that is copied from previous Blackboard courses.
To copy learning materials/activities from one Blackboard to another, follow these simple steps:
- Open the Blackboard course you would like to copy the content to.
- In the Course Content area, you can Copy Content in two places. From the More options menu (three dots) or from the plus sign (+) that divides the content in the main Course area.
- This will open the Copy Content panel. Select the arrow next to the course you would like to copy the content from. You can either select from the list of courses or search for a specific course.
Do not select the box next to the course, as this will copy across the entire contents of the course. Please note: Hidden courses will not appear in the Copy Content panel.
- You should now see all the contents of that course. Carefully select the items that you would like to copy across. If you select a folder, this will copy across the entire contents of the folder. Once selected, these items will appear in the the column on the right.
- Select Start Copy to copy the items to the course.
Please be aware that the copy may take a few minutes (this will be dependent on the amount of content you are copying).
You may also get errors when you copy content across (due to the structural differences between Blackboard Original and Blackboard Ultra courses). Make sure you read the error message (by clicking View Details) to understand the issues with the copy.
