Blackboard Ultra: Making Courses available to students

This article will explain how to make a Blackboard course available to students.

A course must be made available before students enrolled can view or access the course and its content.  When a new course is created on Blackboard it is always set up as unavailable to students. In the Courses list it will be labelled (Private). Instructors and other staff can access an unavailable course, but students cannot.

On the Courses page, in the ‘more options menu’ for a course, you can select Open Course to make the course available to students.

You can also make the course available from the Details & Action panel on the course. Click the Students can’t access this course link.

This will open a dialog box where you can make the course available to students. Click the Open to Student button to make the course available.
