General printing information for HYMS users

Students of Hull York Medical School can print from either Hull or York university sites. Staff and Honorary Staff can only print from the university sites where they hold an IT account (please note that not all staff and honorary staff have Hull and York IT accounts).

NHS printing

In the NHS Education Centres printing is now only available through your local NHS IT account. Please speak to the local Student Liaison team for further details.

Hull University

At Hull university printing is managed by the Hull managed print system – SmartPrint

There are 250 SmartPrint devices across campus which allow you to print, scan and copy. You can also scan your documents to email.

All SmartPrint devices allow you to print onto A4 paper in black and white, and some are also capable of printing in colour and on A3 paper. All devices offer colour scanning. You can find a list of SmartPrint device locations and features here.

If you print from a University of Hull machine your document it is sent to a common print queue, meaning you can collect it from any SmartPrint device on campus.

To log into the machines you can use your Hull University ID card. However, if you do not have your card with you, you can also manually enter on screen your Hull University userID and password, or your HYMS user ID and password (in the form hy***@hyms.ac.uk).

York University

In York printing is managed by York Print Plus

If you print from a University of York machine your document it is sent to a common print queue, meaning you can collect it from any SmartPrint device on campus. To log into the machines you can use your York University ID card.

If you do not have your card with you, you can also manually enter on screen your York University userID and password, or your HYMS user ID and password (in the form hy***@hyms.ac.uk).

Printer credit

For each academic year of your course, HYMS provide all students with £15 of printer credit, which we believe should be sufficient for your printing needs throughout the year. However there may be circumstances whereby you run out of credit – if this happens please contact us via help@hyms.ac.uk or call us on 01904 323838.
