Guide overview
This guide explains how to install and sign in to Microsoft 365 mobile apps (such as Word, Excel, and Outlook) on Apple iPhone/iPad and Android devices using your HYMS account.
What you’ll need
- An active HYMS user account (email in the format: hyab12@hyms.ac.uk)
- Internet access (Wi‑Fi or mobile data)
- An Apple ID (for the App Store) or a Google account (for the Play Store)
- Note: Microsoft 365 apps are installed individually, not as one big suite

- Open the App Store on your device.
- Use Search to search for a specific app such as Outlook, Word, or Excel.
- Tap Get to download and install the app.
- If the button shows Open, the app is already installed on your device.
- Open the app once installation is complete.
- Sign in using your HYMS email address (for example hyab12@hyms.ac.uk) and your HYMS password.
- Repeat these steps for any additional Microsoft 365 apps you need.

- Open the Google Play Store on your device.
- Use Search to search for a specific app such as Outlook, Word, or Excel.
- Tap Install to download and install the app.
- Open the app once installation is complete.
- Sign in using your HYMS email address (for example hyab12@hyms.ac.uk) and your HYMS password.
- Repeat these steps for any additional Microsoft 365 apps you need.
Tips and common issues
- Work or School account: If prompted to choose an account type, select Work or School, not Personal.
- Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA): You may be asked to approve your sign‑in using MFA. Follow the on‑screen instructions to complete authentication.
- Already installed: If the app store shows Open instead of Get or Install, the app is already installed—simply open it and sign in.
