Viewing your personal electronic timetable

The HYMS iCalendar timetable feed service provides every student and tutor with a personalised iCalendar (or iCal) timetable.

  1. This guide explains how to add your personalised timetable to your online Office 365 HYMS email account calendar, from a computer web browser.
  2. This guide additionally explains how to add your personalised timetable to your phone (iPhone or iPad and Android).

You can also add your timetable to devices such as mobile phones, but we cannot guarantee how often such devices will sync with the timetable. The time taken to refresh the timetable on your mobile device may vary depending on the manufacturer and the available connectivity.

A new feature has been introduced for this academic year to make it possible for students to double check timetable content is appearing correctly in the Office 365 HYMS account calendar, or on a personal mobile device.

Students can now refer to the view of their timetable immediately visible at https://webapps.hyms.ac.uk/mytimetable (authentication is via HYMS Office 365 account details).screenshot of timetable view in MyTimetable

You do not need to add the timetable again for a new academic year.

1.Add your personalised timetable to your online Office 365 HYMS email account calendar, from a computer web browser

  1. Go to https://webapps.hyms.ac.uk/mytimetable. Authentication is via HYMS Office 365 account details. You will then be redirected back to the timetable view and need to copy the iCal feed link (in red below).screenshot of the iCal link in MyTimetable
  2. Open your HYMS email in your web browser
  3. From the welcome page, select to view your email account. On the left side panel, at the bottom, select the calendar icon screenshot of the calendar link in Office 365
  4. From the menu (at the left-hand side of the calendar) click import calendarscreenshot of the import calendar link in Office 365
  5. From the import calendar dialogue box select from the web
  6. Paste the ical feed into the link to calendar field and give it a name in the space below. Name it HYMS Calendar.  Now click import. The calendar will appear as an additional calendar tab in calendar viewscreenshot of the import from web link in Office 365
  7. If the timetable is showing but the timings are incorrect, please navigate to your email settings/ view all Outlook settings/ general/ language and time. Check the time zone is set to Dublin Edinburgh Lisbon London.

2.Add your personalised timetable to your phone (iPhone or iPad and Android)

The steps for an Android can also be used as an alternative way of adding the feed to an iOS. If you have an alternative device, or experience any problems subscribing to an iCal feed using the processes described below, we suggest first searching for online support for your specific device. If you still have issues please contact the HYMS Learning Enhancement & Support team at help@hyms.ac.uk .You do not need to add the timetable again for a new academic year.

iPhone or iPad
  1. Add your HYMS email account to your phone; smartphone / tablet apps. If prompted, choose to also add your HYMS email account calendar to your phone.
  2. Go to to https://webapps.hyms.ac.uk/mytimetable. Authentication is via HYMS Office 365 account details.screenshot of the subscribe to timetable feed
  3. Click on subscribe to timetable feed. This will add the calendar to your phone.
  4. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to subscribe to this calendar. Click on subscribe.
  5. Check your calendar app settings to ensure your HYMS timetable is selected and is syncing regularly. You should now see your HYMS timetable in your phone’s calendar app.
  6. If the timetable is showing but the timings are incorrect, please navigate to your email settings/ view all Outlook settings/ general/ language and time. Check the time zone is set to Dublin Edinburgh Lisbon London. Also check the time zone settings on your phone.

You do not need to add the timetable again for a new academic year. However if you are having issues syncing and are trying to subscribe again, first ‘unsubscribe’. Go to your phone settings and choose to unsubscribe/ forget the calendar. 

Android devices

  3. Go to your calendar menu
  4. Check your HYMS calendar is selected to be visible (ticked green box in image).

  6. Click on your HYMS calendar and check the sync option is activated

 

You should now be able to see your phone calendar populate with your HYMS email account calendar information. If the timetable is showing but the timings are incorrect, please navigate to your email settings/ view all Outlook settings/ general/ language and time. Check the time zone is set to Dublin Edinburgh Lisbon London. Also check the time zone settings on your phone.
