This Guide explains how to access the Student Support site via either Pulse Secure or the York VDS. Users of Hull Imaged PC’S\Laptops are advised to use the York VDS option. (Note: the York VDS option is currently undergoing testing)
This guide explains how to download, install and set up a VPN connection using the Pulse Secure software that is now required to access to the HYMS Student Support Site.
York Laptop\PC Users
First check you may already have the software installed, if not navigate to the Software Center and install the Pulse Secure software.
Hull Laptop\PC Users
Contact email@example.com for the software to be installed.
If you are using a personal device, please connect to Student Support via the VDS.
Click Start – Type “Pulse Secure” – Open the Pulse Secure App
Click Connect on the HYMS Student Support tab
Enter your HYMS Details (username in the format: hyabc)
Once the connection is complete, open your browser and go to the usual address that you would use to access the HYMS Student Support website
Enter your HYMS details (username in the format: hyms\hyabc)
Open your Browser and navigate to https://workspace.york.ac.uk/
Enter your York Username and Password – Click Login
You will now be prompted be enter a OTP code – Open the Duo App on your Mobile phone – Select Refresh code – Enter code in OTP box below – Click OK
You’ll now be prompted to install the Parallels Client Click Cancel – And when the window below appears Select “Open in Parallels HTML5 Client” (this is the quicker option).
Once signed in Select the “HYMS Student Support” desktop icon
The Student Support site will open in a separate windows.
As we have a 5-user concurrent license, please log out when not in use.
